Most of our themes don’t have their own font settings, so you change the fonts with a plugin. BuildPress is the exception: you can pick its fonts in the Customizer.
BuildPress
- Go to Appearance › Customize › [PT] Theme Options › Fonts.
- Choose a Primary Font (used in the main content) and a Secondary Font (used for headings). To use a Google font that isn’t in the list, choose Custom Google Font and type the font’s name.
- Click Publish, then reload your site to see the new fonts.
All other themes
We recommend the free Fonts Plugin. It lets you choose from the Google Fonts library and upload your own font files.
- Go to Plugins › Add Plugin, search for Fonts Plugin, then install and activate it.
- Go to Appearance › Customize › Fonts Plugin › Basic Settings.
- Choose a font for Base Typography (body text) and for Headings Typography (headings).
- Click Publish.
If a font doesn’t change on your site, go to Fonts Plugin › Settings in your dashboard and turn on Force Styles.
To use a font file you bought or downloaded, add it in Fonts Plugin › Upload Fonts. It then shows up in the font lists in the Customizer.
