Monthly Theme Updates Report

It’s the middle of summer already! Time flies and we’ve been very busy again with new theme releases and recent pricing change. I’ve been forced to skip the Monthly Theme Updates Report for June. Hence, I’m updating you now for June & July together.

17 themes received updates, so most probably the one you’re using is among them. 33 updates altogether, wow! That is a record number of updates we’ve rolled out in 2 month window so far.

We’ve got lots to cover, so let’s get straight to it.

Notable Changes That Landed in Multiple Themes

There have been some bigger changes that landed in most of the themes. I’ll list them here first, avoiding to repeat them in each of the individual theme updates.

New WooCommerce 3.0 Gallery

A new gallery style has landed in WooCommerce 3.0. The gallery of a single product was changed dramatically, so we’ve implemented the changes and tested it against multiple themes that support WooCommerce. It works flawlessly now. The new gallery is much better than the previous one. Update the theme to the latest version (if you haven’t already) and enjoy the new superpowers.

The sizes Attribute on the <img> Tag

There was a minor bug, regarding the responsive images and the sizes attribute on the <img> HTML tag. This is fixed now in multiple themes, resulting in improved performance of your website and better delivery of responsive images.

New Automatic Updates and Theme Registration Functionality

We’ve developed and implemented a new theme registration functionality, together with the automatic updates. Upon the theme activation, there’s a screen, where you enter your license code to unlock the full functionality of the theme: One Click Demo Import™, customizer settings and seamless automatic updates. It has been implemented in most of our themes and we had no point of failure so far.

Enforced Security of the Output in <head>

The HTML code the theme outputs in the <head> part of HTML has been revisited. Security of the code outputted has been enforced, preventing XSS attacks.

Portfolio Grid Widget When Numbers Are Used as Categories

There was a bug, which prevented to use only numbers as category names in the Portfolio Widget. It’s one of our most advanced and beloved widgets. We’ve come up with a solution that fixed the bug.

Phew, the list was long. Thankfully, we have a great automated system in place, which allows us to roll out updates quickly and efficiently. I know what a bummer it is if the theme author is not responding to the bug reports and if they are not able to roll out updates within days, like we do.

We want to be your reliable business partner, not a random guy, who sold you a theme.

So, have you updated your theme yet? 😉

P.S.: Don’t forget to use the child theme, if you’ve made any changes in the code.
